2009-Year of Spectacular Recovery

2010 is likely to be a much more challenging year for risk assets. Valuations are no longer cheap, and a lot of good news has been priced in. Equities will be supported by a robust recovery in earnings from extremely depressed levels, but we may see a compression of earnings multiples as markets fret over the central banks’ great exit from unprecedented monetary easing globally. Moreover, history has shown that price gains have always been much more muted in the second year of a market recovery....
