Year of the Golden Rabbit – Fundamentally positive but risks remain

With the world economy on a steadier footing, it would seem that the factors are in place for risk assets to move higher. Our best guess is that global equities will outperform bonds this year. However, this bullish case is tempered by inflationary pressures in emerging markets, the lingering hangover from the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis, and most recently, the turmoil in Egypt.

The question facing investors is how far this current rebound in risk assets has to go. Given the uninterrupted nature of the rally since Aug, markets may take a breather in the near-term.
