Director, Private Equity

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Director, Private Equity to join our Alternatives investment team.  This position will involve leading deal origination, execution, and oversight of direct private equity investments as well as fundraising and supporting other strategies within the Alternatives department.

Based in Singapore, this position covers investments across Asia, particularly in South in Southeast Asia.

This role will report directly to Head of Alternatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive origination strategy and activities in Asia – particularly South and Southeast Asia
  • Lead due diligence, transaction structuring, legal negotiation / documentation and closing of direct investment opportunities
  • Recommend and execute exit plans for investee companies to achieve the best returns / results for the fund
  • Lead ongoing management and monitoring of investee companies including board responsibilities and ongoing internal & external reporting
  • Draft and present Investment Committee memos for approval
  • Facilitate and lead active relationships with ecosystem partners (e.g. investment bankers, consultants, commercial lenders, trade/association bodies etc.)
  • Support fundraising activities and work with FFMC BD to raise capital for PE Funds
  • Support Fullerton’s Alternatives team to achieve results for PE funds and other products under the Fullerton Alternatives umbrella
  • Help the continued development of the Alternatives investment team including managing and mentoring junior members.

Education Qualification

  • Degree qualified with strong academic credentials in a related field.  MBA and/or other advanced degree will be highly regarded.

Experience and Skills

  • Proven track record (8 to 10+ years of work experience) as an investor in private equity
  • Deep existing network across a broad range of sectors and corporates, providing a strong basis for origination activity.  Added preference for individuals with prior background and experience in India and/or Indonesia
  • Candidates could also be considered with robust backgrounds in project finance and/or investment banking / M&A environment
  • Operational experience and/or knowledge in ESG and/or sustainability is an added advantage
  • Commercial acumen with robust analytical skills and experience managing risk in a portfolio
  • Hands-on approach, and willing to drive origination and lead transactions on a day-to-day basis
  • Leadership and client management / networking skills
  • Persuasive and polished written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively distil complex concepts into clear and simple themes
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and willing to assume additional responsibilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another Southeast Asian language is an advantage.
